With a large set of documents, sometimes you need a little help reading through them. After you’ve read a few, you can tell the computer “find me more like this” without too much trouble!

2.0.1 The original story

As opposed to one simple story, the investigation of the Takata airbag recall was a years-long saga that affected tens of millions of cars. New York Times reporter Hiroko Tabuchi had to comb through millions of complaints to the federal government looking for cases that might be related to the recall. Daeil Kim, a data scientist who was working at the New York Times, used machine learning to try to lend a hand.
